Chair: Nick Marden LVO DL

After a short Service Commission in the Army, Nick was a diplomat in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for 37 years. He was then appointed Private Secretary to HRH The Duke of Kent, during which time he worked with a number of national charities. Nick is now retired. He was involved in the formation of Charity Mentors Kent and Medway in 2020.
Vice Chair: Lorne Mitchell

Lorne is the Managing Director of Objective Designers which helps its clients innovate in the space between people, communication and technology. Previously he has held senior positions at BT, AT&T and PwC and IBM as a programme director & management consultant. Lorne has lived in Kent for over 25 years and believes the charity sector has a vital role to play to sustain and enrich our local communities. He is currently a volunteer warden for the Kent Wildlife Trust and a former Trustee of both the HALO Trust and PTSD Resolution.
Treasurer: Paul Hayman

Paul is a Chartered CFO and Company Director with over 25 years of experience across global blue-chip, private equity-backed businesses, and government. A leader in high-growth and turnaround environments with a track record in M&A, strategy execution, operational transformation, and stakeholder engagement. Paul has deep experience in finance leadership, treasury, audits, system implementations, and board-level reporting. Known for building strong teams, restructuring under performance, and delivering measurable growth in shareholder value.
Paul Barnard

Paul is the Chief Operating Officer at Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust and a key member of the Executive team. He is responsible for the operation and development of the museum and visitor attraction and delivery of key strategic objectives. Paul has previously worked as a grant maker and has been involved in the charitable sector for over 20 years.
Sophie Clissold-Lesser

Sophie has been a trustee and board chair for several charities over the last 20 years. Her experience includes working with larger well-established organisations (The Ramblers) and supporting charities in their growth journey (Chair of Little Angel Theatre for 10 years). She was a member of the initial trustee board of StreetDoctors and in 2023 stood down as their Chair after 10 years. Her professional experience from over 30 years in a global corporate environment includes consulting, programme and project management, with a focus on successful delivery through collaboration and engagement.
Peter Fischer Brown

Peter has been a trustee, mentor and advisor to a variety of not-for-profit and charity organisations over the last 15 years, across a range of charitable sectors. He is currently Chair of Eat Club, the London charity fostering good nutrition and food skills for young Londoners. Peter is a marketing and corporate strategist and expert in organisational development. He was a Director at the Orange Group and a senior consultant at KPMG. As a member of the international think-tank The Medinge Group, he coordinates the Medinge Academy and teaches conscientious leadership at Esade Business School in Barcelona and other European institutions, as well as being the convenor of the Centre of Excellence for B2B Marketing and Value Creation at Esade.
Tracy Luke MBE DL

Tracy has 35 years’ experience as a teacher and leader within secondary schools. This includes serving as a Principal, an Executive Principal, a National Leader of Education and an Ofsted Inspector. She is currently a Member and Trustee of two educational Trusts and Trustee of a local educational charity.
Charity Manager: Justin Byrd

Justin is an experienced Programme Manager who built his career within national and international IT managed services organisations, leading complex transition programmes on behalf of customers. He went on to oversee and govern the delivery of projects and programmes, ensuring successful outcomes across large-scale service environments.
Seeking a change in direction and motivated by a desire to support the community where he grew up, Justin moved into the not-for-profit sector in Kent and Medway. He joined CMKM as Charity Manager in 2023 and is now responsible for managing all operational activity on behalf of the Board, helping to drive the organisation’s mission and impact across the region.
